PATIENT TREATMENT JOURNEY

Sedation Options

We understand that dental procedures can cause anxiety for some patients, especially when it comes to surgery. That’s why we offer three effective sedation options to ensure your experience is as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

White Pills

Oral Sedation

A Low-Cost, Relaxing Option

Oral sedation is a popular choice for patients who feel nervous or need emergency dental work. It involves taking an anti-anxiety pill about an hour before your appointment. This option is affordable and keeps you awake during the procedure, but you will feel drowsy, carefree, and generally “out of it.” Many younger patients prefer this option, especially if it’s their first experience with major dental work. You’ll still be able to respond to questions from your dentist, but the overall experience will be much more relaxed.

Eyes Closed

IV Sedation

Comfortable, Stress-Free Procedure

IV sedation is ideal for patients who experience higher levels of anxiety, pain, or distress during dental treatments. Administered by our skilled team of anesthetists, this option delivers sedatives directly into your bloodstream, allowing you to feel deeply relaxed throughout the procedure. While you will remain conscious, you may not remember much of the procedure afterward. IV sedation is available in our clinic for an additional cost, though Medicare rebates may be available after your surgery.

General Anesthetic

Complete Sleep for Complex Procedures

For patients who prefer to be completely asleep during their procedure or for those undergoing extensive surgical treatments, general anesthesia is an option. This involves a combination of intravenous medications and inhaled gases that put you in a deep, sleep-like state. General anesthesia is typically performed in a hospital setting, making it a good choice for those with complex health conditions that require a more controlled environment. It’s ideal for extensive surgical treatments and ensures you won’t experience any discomfort during your procedure.
